The art of drinking takes on a new meaning, and this time it’s literal. The ‘Heineken® Limited Edition Design Challenge’  is a global design competition for creative talents world wide. You too can now design the bottle of the future and have your name written in the history on one of the most famous brands today, Heineken. This Facebook connected event will be open until January 31st, 2012.

Since this challenge marks the 140th anniversary of Heineken, entrants are invited to create a bottle design that symbolizes how people around the world will connect in the next 140 years. The winning deisgn will be in a pair, so you can have the chance of working with a total stranger and to collaborate on a whole new level. The winning duo’s designs will be featured on limited-edition bottles to be sold all around the world in celebration of the 140th anniversary. Both contenders will be sold together with the designers names on the bottles.

Mark van Iterson, Global Head of Design at Heineken, said:  “Since we first launched in 1873, Heineken has continued to bring people together over social occasions so what better way to inspire the design for our future bottle than to tap into the exciting world of social connectivity.  Design is the premiumness of this era. Through our Limited Edition challenge, make your bottle a showcase of this statement!”

How you enter the competition is, first you download the design brief and toolkit located on Facebook. After completion, you can upload your entry to an online gallery where it gets shortlisted. Three of the best designs are then individually evaluated, with afterwards choosing the overall winner.  The judging panel will consist of Evan Orensten, Co-founder and Executive Editor of Cool Hunting, Mark Dytham, Co-founder of global creative network, PechaKucha, and Mark van Iterson, Global Head of Design at Heineken.
