The international packaging design competition Pentawards has announced the winners of its 2012 worldwide contest yesterday in Paris, France. An international jury headed by Gérard Caron awarded the Best of The Show Diamond Pentaward to Turner Duckworth (London & San Francisco) for the design of the new Diet Coke can.
Having been introduced in late 2011, the design has been very successful with consumers so Coca-Cola decided to make it a permanent change. The jury was fascinated with the bold design that revolves around the letters D and K (Diet Coke), stating that “perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing to remove.” Turner Duckworth (London & San Francisco) also took the gold Pentaward in the beverages category for their ‘Arctic Home’ Coca-Cola cans.
In addition to the Diamond Trophy, Pentawards attributes the Platinum Award to the following packaging categories: Beverages, Food, Body, Other Markets and Luxury. Here are the winners in the Platinum category:
Best of Beverages – Nescafé by Phoenix Communications (South Korea)
Best of Food – Eggs For Soldiers by Springetts Brand Design Consultants (United Kingdom)
Best of Body – Etude House by Etude (South Korea)
Best of Other Markets – Fisherman by Good! (Kazakhstan)
Best of Luxury – Bardot by Landor Associates San Franciso (USA)
