One of the first brands that is ready for the holiday season is no other than Starbucks. “To rekindle the spirit of the season” as the brand says, they are doing a promotion in their U.S. stores on Nov. 15-18 from 2-5 p.m. where they encourage consumers to bring a friend with them for a cup of their favorite holiday beverage and receive a free one. The press release states that you can get a beverage of the equal or greater value, and on the dedicated website it says of equal or lesser value. Guess someone at their office was way in the holiday spirit while writing the press.
This type of promotion is a Starbucks tradition, as they’ve done it last year too. The beverages that fall under the promotion are all versions of Peppermint Mocha, Skinny Peppermint Mocha, Gingerbread Latte, Eggnong Latte and Caramel Brulée Latte.
“This season is always a festive time of year as our stores turn red, signaling the start of holiday cheer at Starbucks,” said Cliff Burrows, president, Americas, Starbucks Coffee Company, adding: “It is the perfect time to rekindle connections with those we may have lost touch with and celebrate these cherished moments of being together…”
The promotion is already working for Starbucks as people are posting tweets, photos on instagram (the brand even featured one on their timeline).
Various other promotions through Facebook apps are also available, but again in the U.S. only. The brand has filled the U.S. market with so many great holiday promotions and gifts, but Europe is forgotten once again. When can we expect such promotions? The brand fails to mention it in the press. At least we can enjoy their nice holiday commercials. Heck, we don’t even have a Starbucks franchise in Serbia, I have nothing to complain about.
