When it comes to drink manufacturers, they like to refresh their bottles with limited edition designs done in collaboration with various artists from time to time – no matter whether they’re famous or not. So we’ve had Heineken with their Bottle Of The Future Design Challenge, which was shortlisted to three designs recently. Then there were the Smirnoff Australia’s collab with graphic designers Beastman and Nanami Cowdroy, Diane Von Furstenberg’s Diet Coke bottle, can and accompanying packaging design, and Absolut Vodka bottle reinterpretation by Gorillaz Artist Jamie Hewlett, etc.
This time it’s Coke again, but through the eyes of legendary Italian fashion designers Moschino, Bluemarine, Etro, Alberta Ferretti and Versace. The redesign collabs are part of Coca-Cola’s “tribute to fashion” charity campaign, and will be exhibited at the Milano Fashion Center. It doesn’t matter if some of these designs are a bit to girly for my taste, or even if some of them cause an absolute sense of disgust in me (the Versace version), it is always interesting to see how artist reinterpret iconic brands such as Coca-Cola.
