Customers are used to to all kinds of surprises when it comes to Ikea’s advertising efforts. This time, the Scandinavian furniture brand has pushed its borders with 3D billboards placed at the Saint Lazare train station in Paris.
From October 29th to November 3d (between 8am-9am and 7pm-8pm), Parisians will have a unique opportunity to witness an unusual scene: A real-time bathroom used by an actress for washing her teeth, combing hair and getting ready for work.
The bathroom installation is placed several feet above the ground, topped with the slogan: “At last a bathroom that rises above (the rest).” Apparently, Ikea found out that half of all French bathrooms were no bigger than 86sq feet.
This isn’t the first time Ikea has surprised passers-by with pop-up bathrooms and so far, Ikea has successfully experimented with this relatively new form of billboard advertising, thus leaving a lasting impression to the audience. This year, in June, Ikea turned two waiting rooms at Paris’ electric car rental scheme Auto’lib also into bathrooms and has launched previous, similar campaigns in airports and subways.
